Cheap Wedding Gift Ideas – Giving a Lot For a Little

One of the blessings of aging beyond one’s twenties (and, er…even their thirties) is after these years, the volume of wedding “invites” starts to decline. Years ago, I remember going out and purchasing several wedding gifts at a time, while more invitations kept popping up in my mailbox.

Very big business, this wedding thing.

If you are one of those who are fortunate (and young) enough to have many, many friends heading to the altar, you have a particularly creative challenge ahead. With prices going up and quality, in many cases, heading South, how does one honor the bride and groom with a great gift without breaking the bank?

Finding Cheap Wedding Gift Ideas is an Art.

Now, what do I mean by cheap? OK, not cheap. Inexpensive. It is, of course, a relative term. By today’s standards, finding a gift worth giving for under a hundred dollars is a challenge. So I am going to throw out ideas that range from 20 dollars to 150 dollars. From very cheap to moderately inexpensive.

First, consider the personalities of the couple. Are they traditional types, or are they from the loose and casual, “barefoot-is-better” league?

Traditionalists tend to enjoy keepsake gifts: silver, crystal, porcelain – items that last through the years and can even become heirlooms. These items tend to be costly, but can still be found at very agreeable prices.

In my search, I found silver-plated wine bottle stoppers that can have the couples’ initials put on the top, for under $20.00. I also found a monogrammed silver-plate notepad (handy and elegant on the desk) for about the same price. A silver and marble cheese serving tray is a gorgeous wedding gift for about $100.00, and one that they’ll use over and over. Or how about a beautifully designed wine decanter which comes with its own silver strainer, for $40.00? Add a couple of silver wine bottle stoppers, and you have a memorable gift, and a very cheap wedding gift idea. Cheap, but not cheesy. See what I mean?

More practical, every-day wedding gifts that every couple would love to receive might be among these ideas:

A powerful 9-speed mixer (about $70.00), or an electric fondue pot (also in the $70.00 range)…if the romantic couple has not yet enjoyed cheese fondue, they are missing out on one of life’s great treats. If they are lactose-intolerant, there are other types of fondue that they would love. How about dipping plump, fresh, strawberries into molten chocolate fondue? Some dairy, but way less. I’m lactose intolerant, and I can handle this. Fondues are also meat and vegetables cooked in hot oil.

Another idea: Everybody needs a Kitchen scale, but no one buys one for themselves. A great cheap gift idea: you can purchase a streamlined, cutting-edge glass Kitchen scale for about $50.00

One of my favorite cooking vessels was a gift from my sister. It’s an All-Clad asparagus pot, something I scoffed at as ridiculous and unnecessary, until I cooked my first asparagus in it…tender, green shoots, steamed to toothsome perfection. I became hooked on this wonderful pot and don’t steam asparagus without it. It’s only about $50.00. If your bride and groom are “foodies”, they will use and enjoy it forever.

Are they coffee lovers? How about an electric coffee bean grinder (about $30.00), a couple bags of premium espresso beans (another $20.00), and an espresso maker ($30-$50.00)? If you want to splurge just a little more, add six espresso cups and saucers (price variable, but about $45.00 should do it). For less than $150.00, you have put together a memorable, enjoyable gift that the special couple will enjoy for years to come. OK, that’s not really a cheap wedding gift, but it is one filled with thoughtfulness and value.

I hope these cheap wedding gift ideas have inspired you to go out and find some quality gifts that won’t cost a fortune. Moms and Dads and Aunties and Uncles and Godparents and Grandparents can spring for the big ticket items. Those of us who are wealthy in engaged friends, but not wealthy in the traditional sense, have to make up for it with imagination. The answer is to come up with ideas that are beautiful, well made, classy, and useful.

And, hopefully, so affordable you can pick up one for yourself!

Happy shopping!

Wedding Gift Ideas

Compiling a list of unique wedding gift ideas can be quite challenging, especially when shopping for the bridal party. The bridesmaids and groomsmen provide crucial support for the bride and groom in the days leading up to that special day, and a special gift of appreciation is in order.

Traditionally, groomsmen gift ideas had each man in the bridal party receive something he could wear during the wedding, such as cufflinks or pocket watches. Now, people are expanding into more useful and functional wedding gift ideas, like Swiss Army knives or popular flasks. Personalization is easy when the gifts are engraved with a date, the men’s initials, or a special, short message.

Wedding gift ideas for groomsmen can be fun ones, too. Poker sets can give the boys a night of cards and friendship, and shot glasses that show style or some imported fine wines add to the relaxed style of wedding gift ideas. A beer brewing kit can be a great gift idea too.

Wedding gift ideas for bridesmaids customarily involved jewelry, and this is still a popular option as gift ideas for women. Necklaces, earrings, or bracelets can be beautiful at the event as well as be worn at any other time when the happy day has passed. Again, though, many people are leaning towards a more contemporary approach in their wedding gift ideas for women.

Nowadays, wedding gift ideas for bridesmaids focus on the woman and her interests or something more personal. Just like with groomsmen gift ideas, bridesmaid gift ideas focus on pleasure and fun, such as monogrammed silk pajamas or some cosmetics bags full of wonderful products just for her.

Other wedding gift ideas include personalized picture frames, makeup or shaving kits, or a custom-designed stationary set. Think about getting non-wedding related gift ideas for the people in your bridal party. After all, they’re not always at weddings and you don’t want your gift to be set on a shelf just for special occasions. Picnic coolers, camping gear… anything goes! A ring that shows off the person’s astrological sign can be a nice gift, though you will have to ask about birth dates, ring size, and make sure the men feel comfortable wearing rings.

Anything that the members of your bridal party would love is a sure bet for great wedding gift ideas. You can give identical gifts to the men and women, give gender-related gifts to groomsmen and bridesmaids, or give individual gifts to each person involved. No matter what, do make sure that you chose gifts that thoughtful and sure to be appreciated.

Presenting your wedding gifts to each member of your wedding party with gratitude and love will help make your wedding even more special. Your wedding gift ideas to your bridesmaids and groomsmen signify your love and appreciation for the men and women who support you as you take one of the biggest steps of your life.

4 Things That a Unique Wedding Gift Idea Should Have

Looking for a unique wedding gift idea can be a real daunting task. And this is especially true when the couple happens to be someone dear to you. Moreover, this task will become even more difficult if they are successful and can afford anything in the world. You have to really crack your head in order to come up with a really unique wedding gift idea. How are you going to know what makes a wedding gift unique?

There are 4 things that make a wedding gift become unique to the lovely wedding couple.

1. You have to know what the purpose of buying the wedding gift is. Why you buying it and what are the special occasion at hand? Do you need the unique wedding gifts for a family affair, to someone who is a good friend to you, or for business reasons?

Though you might think it is just a wedding gift, the purpose will influence your decision on choosing unique wedding gifts. So, do a lot of research which gift is suitable for certain purpose.

2. You have to know who you are buying the wedding gift for.

If you are buying a gift for your best friend, then you could consider what your best friends’ interests are. Does your friend like whodunit books? Then maybe you could scout around for hard-to-find whodunits that your friend has not read yet. Does your friend enjoy wearing perfume? Then maybe you could sniff around to track down a new perfume that he/she might enjoy but which has not caught on with others in your social group yet.

On the other hand, if you are buying unique gifts for a corporate colleague, then you might want to make discreet inquiries as to what unique interests that corporate colleague likes to indulge in, during his spare time. Does he enjoy solving puzzles? Then you could look for special board games or computer games that he could dabble in when he can. You might be surprised what a hit such unique gifts can be when sent to the right person.

3. You have to know why you are buying these unique wedding gifts.

Unique wedding gifts basically are supposed to cement your relationship with the recipient even further and show how much you value the relationship. That is the commonality that cuts across all unique wedding gifts categories. But there is a difference between sincere gifts and gifts that attempt to steer a relationship in a direction that might be unpleasant for the recipient. That is why some people believe that they should not accept gifts no matter how unique or well-packaged due to their position in society. Civil servants are this way – and in some places there are specific laws that prohibit civil servants from accepting gifts of any sort while they are occupying a specific position in government. Such laws help guarantee the sanctity and integrity of their position in government so that the reputation of the civil servant remains unquestioned.

4. You have to know that whether you have enough to buy brand-name custom gifts or should you stick to the more generic off-the-shelf type of gifts?

Sometimes, there is a world of difference between the quality of brand-name items and generic items; in other cases, sometimes you can barely tell them apart. Thus, the key to selecting good unique gifts lies in having an eye for quality too.

Question is: Where can you find the wedding gift that have the characteristics above?

There are many websites where you can find different gift items in the display. You can get a clear picture of the gift item you want to buy. All the gift items are displayed with their prices which makes it easy for you to decide on the price that whether its in your budget or not. So with the gift item on screen you have its price too. Comparatively it’s better instead of going shop to shop and asking for the prices of gift items.

Another option is the gifts stores online. You can order online and the gift will be at your doorstep. They also offer after buying services if you are buying something like home appliances. It will be beneficial for the wedding couple. You can also discuss with them about the gift ideas if you want something different.

Looking For Great Wedding Gift Ideas

People are always asking for some great wedding gift ideas for their friends or family. They want to get their loved ones something special for their big day, something to show the bride and groom how much they love them and are celebrating with them.

I can totally understand wanting to look for special wedding gift ideas for that best friend or family member getting married. You want your gift to mean something, and be memorable for the couple for years to come.

My dad was in the same boat when it came to our wedding, but also wanted some special gift ideas for something that he could do. We talked about it, and my wife has a bad back, and the beds that she had been sleeping on in the past provided no support for her, leaving her in pain throughout the day. So we went bed shopping, and my dad also bought us a great set of new mattresses that would support her back and help her feel better throughout the day. And my wife has never had fewer back problems since I have known her. If you are looking for some special wedding gift ideas, and are wondering what to do, then here are some great hints to help you get started.

Wedding Gift Ideas off their Wedding Registry

I know this one sounds silly, but think about it. The bride and groom have specifically chosen each item on their wedding registry as something that they want for their new home. So their wish list should provide you with some great wedding gift ideas. If you want to do something special for them, then one option is to get your wedding gift ideas from their registry. Look at what they have registered for, and choose one of the nicer items, or one you really know they want and may not get themselves if no one buys it for them. It will really mean something that you buy them something so thoughtful like that.

Wedding Gift Ideas – Look for a Need

Another idea for finding some great wedding gift ideas is to look for a need. For example, my dad buying us the bed to help my wife feel better was greatly appreciated, and something that we could not buy for ourselves. Otherwise, if the couple is having money problems, then more great wedding ideas can come from this too. Some great wedding gift ideas are to donate towards the honeymoon, or offer to pay for something in the wedding, the couple is sure to appreciate it.

Be Careful with Your Wedding Gift Ideas

If you are looking for some wedding gift ideas that are a little more personal than something off of their wedding registry, then tread carefully. If the bride and groom really wanted something, then chances are it is on their wedding registry. But if you know the couple very well and know that one of them has always wanted a particular item then go ahead. You don’t want to be remembered as the guest who bought you this gigantic horrible painting of a kitten when what they really wanted was a vacuum cleaner.

Be sure to base your wedding gift ideas off the tastes and preferences of the bride and groom. Not sure what those are? Then just check out their bridal registry and look and see what kinds of things they like. It’s not always fun to go to your best friends wedding, or your sister or brother wedding and only have bought them measuring cups and a utensil holder. I totally understand. But just read me here, if you are looking for special wedding gift ideas not on their registry, make sure it is something that they will enjoy for years to come.
